Camping:

Tent

Tent Tips:

1. If you have a tent (or are able to borrow a tent) set it up in your back yard in order to make sure that you have all the necessary parts (particularly the poles & a rain fly). Also, check the tent for holes, tears, and bad seams. I have found that using Scotch Guard(R) on the entire tent is a good idea.

2. Make sure you have enough tents for your family or group. Some folks like to have tents for everyone to sleep in, and then an extra tent for storing food.

3. If you buy at tent, make sure that the tent has side screen windows/panels. I once made the mistake of buying a tent that only had a screen on the top of the tent. I was thus unable to benefit from any kind of a cross breeze. I also couldn't see what was happening outside my tent.

An Air Mattress

Forget about sleeping directly on the ground. Even a sleeping bag won't provide you with the insulation or "padding" that you need.

Grill or Campstove

No, you don't absolutely need one, but it can save you a lot of money if you can cook your own food. Remember, Cornerstone Festival does not permit any sort of ground fires, so if you want to cook for yourself, you will need a campstove or grill.

Charcoal, matches, lighter fluid, barbeque utensils, and hot pads.

Some of this stuff (particularly barbeque utensils and hot pads) can be purchased at garage sales, dollar stores, flea markets, and the like.

Coolers
Warning! Coolers are notoriously unstable, so don’t rely on them to keep perishable food items fresh. Better to purchase perishable food at the fest grocery store on a daily basis than to risk food poisoning!

A sleeping bag along with a cotton sheet and a blanket.

The sheet is great for warm nights, and a blanket is good for wrapping around yourself in the evenings at concerts. Blankets also make a good "compromise" if your sleeping bag is too warm, but it is too chilly for just a sheet.

Lanterns and Tent Lights

A tent light can really be a lifesaver if you need to find something in your tent at night.

Flashlight(s)

Try and get one flashlight for each member of your group or family. They come in very handy at night, particularly if you arrive at the fest grounds early, and you don't have as much light from other campsites to illumniate your path.

Insect Zappers, Citronella Candles, and Other Insect Repellent

Cooking and Eating Utensils

Camping furniture and chairs.

Money and Space Saving Hint: Locals regularly have yard and rummage sales at the beginning of "Cornerstone Week". This means that you can likely pick up folding chairs, tables, couches, etc, for a song. Keep your eyes peeled for sales when you get to Bushnell.

Tarps, Awnings, etc.
Try and bring some sort of shelter from the sun.
